Vocabulary III: Quiz ๐ŸFall๐Ÿ

1) Not the cudgel you would use as a weapon, but early on in this course we have learned that having a right to your opinion generates cudgels on behalf of something or someone. 2) In this class, a catharsis that one can incorporate into their morning routine is to take a few moments during the Pledge Of Allegiance to put both hands over one's heart and take one's thoughts elsewhere for those couple of minutes. 3) From Orwell's reading, I have learned that there is no purpose in using archaic words or phrases because it will only confuse the reader. 4) As part of this class we must take weekly vocabulary tests, and when hearing that we must write ten sentences on what we have learned in this course thus far, using words from vocabulary list 3 (this assignment here) was nothing euphonious to my ears. 5) Before playing the game two truths and a lie, Dr. Preston informed us that people inadvertently give away clues whether it be in their diction or their non-verbal/para-verbal communication. 6/7/8) For our upcoming essay, know to avoid being slovenly and do not jargon, but rather be scrupulous and concise. 9) Taboos enforce steering clear of things and sayings that may be offensive or go against religion, but I was once told by our wondrous teacher the some taboos are good and that there is a good reason for them. 10) Once we get into rhetoric writing I am sure some of us shall be writing some incendiary pieces. If not, I am almost positive we will see examples of how rhetoric can be used to fuel different emotions out of people.
